How to Use Your SMS Sign-up Form
What is an SMS sign-up form?
Every Text‑Em‑All account includes a public join page—a web‑based form where people can add themselves to your texting list. The form asks for a phone number (with optional name fields) and includes a consent checkbox. When someone signs up, they will receive an automatic text message asking them to reply with the word "JOIN" to opt-in. By doing this, they give permission to receive your messages and their number is automatically added to your Everyone group.
- You should also read our Ultimate SMS Compliance Guide and consult with legal counsel to better understand your compliance responsibilities.
What are the benefits?
- Grow your subscriber list — Building your SMS subscriber list starts with making it easy for people to opt in. Text-Em-All's SMS sign-up form provides a simple, compliant way to capture phone numbers from your website, social media, email campaigns, and more.
- Compliance and consent — When someone signs up via your sign-up form they check a consent box and agree to receive messages, giving you the prior express consent required under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and carrier rules. The contact must then reply to the automated text-message, this is called a "double opt-in". The language used on both is specifically designed to ensure compliance
- Accurate data collection — Contacts type their own phone number and name, reducing data‑entry errors and saving you time compared to manually entering contacts or importing a list.
- Easy contact & group management — People who join via the page are added to your account automatically. You can then move them to custom contact groups as needed.
- Easy to share — You can embed the link on your website, email signatures, social media or convert it to a QR code so people can subscribe from their phones.
- Custom messaging — Enable custom join replies to automatically send a short confirmation message when someone texts “JOIN” to your number. This assures contacts that they have successfully opted in and allows you to welcome them.
