Add Contacts to a Group
You can add as many contacts to a group as needed through the Contacts page. This article covers three methods for organizing your contacts: adding individual contacts, selecting multiple contacts at once, and uploading files directly to specific groups.
How do I add a single existing contact to a group?
Adding individual contacts to groups allows precise control over your contact organization. You can add contacts one at a time through the contact edit interface, where you can also assign them to multiple groups simultaneously.
- Navigate to your Contacts page
- Find the contact you wish to add to a group and click on the contact's name
- In the contact edit dialog select Groups on the left-hand side
- Click Select Group
- Choose which group or groups you wish to add the contact to
- Click Save
How do I add multiple contacts to a group at once?
Bulk contact management saves time when organizing large contact lists. You can select multiple contacts simultaneously and assign them to groups in one action, or use the drag and drop feature for visual contact management.
- Navigate to your Contacts page
- Find the contacts you wish to add to a group and click the checkbox next to each contact's phone number
- Select as many contacts as you would like then click the Add to Group icon
- Select the group you wish to add your contacts to
- Alternatively, you may drag and drop your selected contacts into the desired group once they are selected
How do I upload a file directly to a group?
File uploads provide the most efficient method for adding large numbers of contacts to specific groups. This process handles both new contacts and existing contacts without creating duplicates.
- Navigate to your Contacts page
- Click the group you wish to add contacts to on the left-hand side
- Click Upload a File
- Follow the steps for uploading a file in the dialog
Note: Uploading a file will not alter your existing contacts. If you upload a file to a group that contains existing contacts they will be pulled into the group without generating duplicates. If the file contains new contacts they will be added to the group you select and to the Everyone group.
