Transferring Text-Em-All account ownership

Transferring account ownership in Text-Em-All comes down to two moves: get the new owner set up with the right access, then disable the person who's leaving. The exact steps depend on your situation.

How do I set up a new account owner who is new to Text-Em-All?

If your account owner is leaving and their replacement has never used Text-Em-All, the outgoing owner adds the new owner before they go. Do this while the current owner still has access. Once the new owner is set up, disable the old profile instead of editing its contact details. Disabling keeps your messaging history accurate and tied to the right person.

  1. While the current owner still has access, add the new account owner by following Creating additional users.
  2. Confirm the new owner can log in and reach account settings.
  3. When you're ready, open User Settings, click the three-dot menu next to the old owner's profile, and select Disable User.

How do I make an existing user or admin the new account owner?

If someone already on your account will become the new owner, change their role first, then disable the departing owner's profile. You don't need to create a new profile, because they already have access. Update the role type, confirm the change went through, and disable the old owner when you're ready.

  1. Update the person's role by following Change roles for existing users.
  2. Confirm the new role shows the correct account owner permissions.
  3. Open User Settings, click the three-dot menu next to the old owner's profile, and select Disable User.

How do I remove a user or admin who is leaving?

If the person leaving is a user or admin, and not the account owner, you don't need to transfer ownership at all. Disable their profile, then add anyone who needs to replace them. The account owner stays the same, so nothing else has to change.

  1. Open User Settings, click the three-dot menu next to the departing person's profile, and select Disable User.
  2. Add any new users who need access by following Creating additional users.

What if the account owner already left and no one can log in?

If the account owner is already gone and no one has their login, this one can't be handled on your own. Whether you need access for the first time or a role needs updating, our support team has to verify the account before making changes. This is an account-specific request, so we can't walk through it in a help article.

Contact our support team at (877) 226-3080 or support@text-em-all.com, and we'll confirm who now controls the account and take it from there.
