Why 2FA is a login requirement
To protect your account and the people you're messaging, Text-Em-All requires two-factor authentication (2FA) on every login. After entering your password, you'll need a one-time code sent to you by email, text message, or phone call.
This layer of protection ensures that even if someone guesses your password, they can't access your account without the passcode. We understand extra steps can feel inconvenient, but this requirement is one of the ways we keep communication secure and your organization safe.
Why is 2FA required?
- Your Text-Em-All account holds valuable information: contacts, message history, and billing details.
- If your account is compromised, bad actors can send unwanted messages, which puts your registration and account at risk.
- Passwords alone can be compromised. Requiring two factors (something you know, plus something you have like your email or phone) helps prevent unauthorized access.
- Mandatory 2FA reflects our commitment to responsible and secure communication.
Choosing how you receive your 2FA code
Text-Em-All offers three ways to receive your 2FA passcode. When you log in, you can choose which one works best for you:
- Email, sent to the email address on your profile
- Text message, sent to the phone number on your profile
- Phone call, an automated call to the phone number on your profile
Updating your 2FA contact info
Make sure your account email and phone number are current and accessible:
- Go to Settings > Profile
- Under Contact Info, click Edit
- Enter the email address and phone number you want to use for receiving 2FA codes
- Click Save
Tip: If you plan to use text 2FA, make sure the phone number on your profile is a mobile number that can receive text messages. Landlines and most VoIP numbers won't be able to receive your passcode by text. Phone call 2FA will work with any number that can answer a call.
When will I be asked for 2FA?
You won't have to enter a 2FA code every single time you log in. Here's how it works:
- First login on a new device or browser: You'll be asked to enter a 2FA code.
- Trusted devices: Once you complete 2FA, that device is remembered for about 30 days. If you log out and back in during that time, you won't need to enter a code again.
- Active users: If you're regularly using your account on the same device, you may go a long time without seeing a 2FA prompt, because your session stays active.
In short: Most users will only see the 2FA screen occasionally, usually when logging in on a new device, after 30 days, or if you haven't been active for a while.
How to Log In with 2FA

- Choose how you'd like to receive your passcode: email, text, or phone call
- To choose a different method, click "Didn't get a code?" then click "Try a different way" to switch to email, text, or phone call
- Check the matching inbox or phone for the passcode (or answer the call to hear it)
- Back on the login page, type the passcode into the prompt
- Click Log In to access your account
Important: Never share your password or 2FA code. Text-Em-All staff will never ask for these.
FAQs
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Can I disable 2FA? | No. Two-factor authentication is mandatory and cannot be turned off. You can update the email or phone number used for your 2FA codes at any time in Settings > Profile. |
| My code didn't arrive, what do I do? | For email: check your spam or promotions folder. For text: confirm the number on your profile is a mobile number that can receive texts. For phone calls: make sure the number is correct and your phone is reachable. If the issue continues, request a new code or try a different delivery method. The code is sent to the contact info on your account profile, which may be different than your email or username. 2FA troubleshooting article |
