How can I find my EIN?

An EIN is a special tax ID number given to businesses by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Businesses need an EIN to do things like file taxes or get a business licenses

If you need to find your EIN, there are a few places you can look:

  • Tax papers: Look at any tax papers you have filed for your business, like your W-2 form or W-9 form. Your EIN should be listed there.
  • Business papers: Look at any official papers you have for your business, like your business license, articles of incorporation, or financial documents.
  • Ask the IRS: If you can't find your EIN anywhere, you can call the IRS and ask them at 800-829-4933. They will ask you some questions to make sure it is really your business before giving you your EIN.
  • Contact other professionals: Your accounting team or tax professional may be able to help locate your EIN.

It's important to have your EIN with you when you need it. You might need it to open a bank account for your business, to get a special business permit, or to pay your business taxes.
